My name is Jessi Taylor and I am from Des Moines. I attended Abraham Lincoln High School. After graduating from ALHS, I pursued higher education at Simpson College where I graduated earning a bachelor's degree in Spanish, a bachelor's degree in Music, and a minor in Secondary Education. In the fall of 2016 I began pursuing my master's degree at the University of New Orleans. I have had the honor to teach in 7 different school districts. I have been fortunate to have traveled to 12 foreign countries outside of the United States; two of which I backpacked through. While I was in Mexico, I taught English at the Institute of Modern English in Merida, Yucatan. While I was in Spain I hiked the Camino de Santiago from Ponferrada to Santiago de Compostela. I will be returning to Merida, Yucatan, Mexico in Summer 2018. Once again I will be working at the Institute of Modern English, where I will be coordinating volunteers and teaching classes. I have a passion for Spanish language and culture, and languages in general. I have studied French, Portuguese, Arabic, and Italian in years past. As a lifelong learner, I continue to absorb knowledge to bring to my students in the classroom. I look forward to working with all of my students this year as we learn Spanish interactively and immersively.
